Sheffield Hallam University<\/strong>, laid the foundations for what would become one of the UK\u2019s most innovative teamwear providers.<\/p>Mike, studying Sports Business Management<\/strong>, spotted a gap in the teamwear market\u2014ordering kits was clunky, slow, and disconnected from how modern clubs actually wanted to operate. Tom, with a background in Engineering and a nose for a deal<\/strong>, shared the same frustration. So they set out to fix it.<\/p>

The Big Idea<\/h3>
The vision was simple but powerful: make kit ordering easy<\/strong>. No more chasing reps, juggling spreadsheets, or waiting weeks for unclear deliveries. With a digital-first mindset, Mike and Tom began developing a model that put the customer first\u2014efficient, flexible, and built for modern sport.<\/p>The roots of this vision were laid even earlier. In his second year at university, Mike wrote the original business plan for Kitlocker<\/strong> as part of a Sports Business Management module<\/strong>. What started as coursework quickly turned into a real-world mission\u2014to transform an outdated industry through smart tech and better service.<\/p>Their first breakthrough came soon after: the University of Sheffield<\/strong> became their first major customer, and word started to spread across campuses and clubs. Then came the moment that changed everything\u2014Nike offered Kitlocker a trade account<\/strong>. It was the brand validation that gave the business real momentum.<\/p>

From Nike to Oxford\u2026 and Beyond<\/h3>
That relationship with Nike opened new doors fast. Kitlocker went on to win the supply contract for Oxford University<\/strong>, a client still proudly served to this day. This led to the prestigious opportunity to kit out the Boat Race squads<\/strong>\u2014a high-profile milestone that placed Kitlocker firmly on the map.<\/p>From there, Kitlocker began supplying universities across the UK, supporting grassroots football clubs, and earning the trust of elite organisations like The Football Association<\/strong> and the Premier League<\/strong>. As the client base grew, so did the team, the tech, and the ambition.<\/p>
